Depeche Mode - are they GREAT in your book or not?
Definitely a Yes!!
No one else has combined electro/synth with guitar as creatively/successfully as D.M., which also combines rock/pop/dance. Also a phenominal live act w/Dave Gahan being great frontman!-see Devotional tour (it's on youtube-don't know how to include in text  )-staging and lighting by Andrew Corbijn other-worldly!
I actually was surprised to find them under pop forum, esp. since I've seen D.M. posts/threads in alt/indie, but, I know there are plenty of bands who crossover (and they're usually the bands I favor...love genre-defying, or blending)
