It only seems that way.
There's actually a fierce invisible battle being raged between them that only a true warrior can percieve.
It's like that part in Fist of the North Star when Ken and Rei are staring at each other, and a bandit onlooker is like "Lol, what are they doing?" and the bandit chief is like "They're fighting. Watch." And then he throws a knife in between them, and it explodes from the raw sexual tension of their glares.
