Corin Tucker - has more sonic violence than any death metal singer I've heard
Poly Styrene - like Corin but with added hoarseness, which is always nice, and a British accent, which is nice too
Janis Joplin - pain: the voice
Carrie Brownstein - the definitive punk scream, and a very charismatic, recognisable voice, almost an accent
Courtney Barnett - not so much her voice (which is pleasant enough) but her phrasing/delivery. There's a lot of intelligence and wit in it, that's what really makes her songs for me
Debbie Harry - chrystal clear and gorgeous
Kim Deal - I've seen someone on youtube call her voice a human saxophone reed, I think that's pretty accurate
Kathleen Hanna - loud, hoarse and obnoxious, can go from schoolgirl to banshee in an instant
