You see [MERIT], the thing is that as a lonely, scared, closeted kid, it can really mean a LOT to witness something like a pride parade. That's something that you can easily underestimate if you haven't experienced it. I know a bunch of people who participate in it, and none of them wave their homosexuality in anyone's face. For many of them it's an excuse to have a party, for many, including me, it's a way to give closeted people courage. Straight people don't need that specific courage. Of couse everyone has things they could use some support for, and if you ask me we might as well throw parades for all of them
