To get a grip on things Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza includes Ennio Morricone who is one of the most prolific and important composers of the last 100 years (90 of which he’s lived through). Before tackling the Demdike Stare you might as well start with the original
Structurally it’s formatted in the pattern of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony: beginning in a state of apparent ambiguity and ending in something that can sweep anyone away but instead of going from mimicking the tune-up to Ode to Joy Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza goes from something like Stockhausen to something like Can, which is pretty phenomenal since it predates Tago Mago.
So does Demdike Stare pass muster?
