It's not just Southern man, it's white people in general. 500 years ago, few if any whites lived in the "New World," but then they acquired perhaps, over 50 million square km of, land, and America benefited, I read somewhere, from over 100 million man-years of slave labour.

Okay, we can give Mount Vernon and Monte Cello to the descendants of the slaves whose forced labour provided the capital to have them constructed, but how will you convince millions (or at least the several 100 000s who'd do more than vote) of Trump supporters in the US South about reparations?
