Yesterday was coronation day, and I was working a block away from the Imperial Palace. I think every cop and detective in the country was patrolling the area. I even noticed that the manholes had little stickers over them, showing that they'd been inspecting by the police. Then some dude yelled out "Thank you, Heisei!*" and jumped off a bridge into the river below. But he didn't hit the water, instead landing face-first in a boat that just happened to emerge from under the bridge at just the right (wrong?) moment. I loled.
*Heisei is the name of the era that just ended.
