That seemingly low figure of support could also be driven by the fact that the industry is surprisingly split on the potential impact of automation. Overall, 43 percent of Valley employees are concerned about a potential employment crisis caused by automation. Even among those who do believe that AI and automation will do potentially irreparable harm to the American workforce, less than half—just 46 percent—support UBI.
