TBH I think that guitar style doesn't particularly speak to anything he doesn't like about non-pretentious punk or metal beyond sounding like Dave Mustaine liked 70s rock of some sort. I still am not entirely sure what central influence ruled that album. I always describe it as if AC/DC wrote an album so high on meth that their fingers turned into spider legs on ice. I definitely think that no matter where elph fell on that album he'd be surprised by how much at least he didn't hate it.
