Also, at the time Tom Scholz recorded that Boston self-titled, he didn't have much money. He was just ridiculously obsessed with sound equipment so spent practically everything he had to turn his basement into a personal recording studio. It just turned out he was a better sound engineer than practically anyone else in the industry at the time, so he was able to produce some amazing sounding stuff despite having relatively subpar equipment.

Do you think that he played a larger role in influencing bedroom pop artists than the cost of production being low enough for an artist to make a home studio without spending everything that they have?
