.. I dunno how it is in San Antonio but here temp jobs are pretty easy to come by and often pay twice the minimum wage
And when I was visiting San Antonio i was told it's the fastest growing city in America. Which means tons of construction. Which means tons of low level grunt work jobs that pay at least 15/hr
You don't need connections to find that kind of work. But it is definitely much harder than working retail. It will put some hair on your chest.
