And I'd say that bog standard thrash is kind of the beating heart and soul of what metal is. Which is why I love 90s metalcore so much as it was the true flag bearer of that kind of metal rather than death and black metal and grindcore.

I don’t generally find myself enjoying these “core” variations but I love the majority of thrash metal and black metal I’ve heard. Huge fan of most of Megadeth’s discography in particular. Machine Head’s “The Blackening” has been a long time favorite
