Also try speaking to them the way you'd speak to people who aren't clients and see if they still like you (ignore if being middle class has erased your ability to be anything but "business casual" at all times). Their good will is dependent on you acting like a proper servant. Not making it as explicit as bowing and saying "Your Majesty" doesn't do anything but hide the servitude in plain sight.

Having a “work persona” and making shallow, friendly connections with people is enjoyable to me. I don’t want to be doing it all the time but for ~15 hours a week it’s nice.
I guess by the most basic of definitions you can call it servitude but that has darker implications than I would ascribe to my job
