What was your overall impression of 2019's music?
Legit Techno and Black Metal are as strong as ever.

What was your favourite album of 2019?
Man, this is tough. I'll take a few from different genres just because I can't put one over the other.

Death Spell Omega "The Furnaces of Palingenesia"
Puce Mary "The Drought'
Joshua Sabin "Sutarti"
Restive Plaggona "Trouble Sociale"

What was your least favourite album this year?
I feel awful for this, but I was expecting to love Ansome's new album and I really only like 1 song from it.

Which album did you listen to the most in 2019?
I was late to "Cocoa Sugar", but oh my god it's track after track of pure gold. Defintely best album of 2018, just didn't know till 2019.

Who is your favourite new artist of 2019?
Karim Maas. Really great dark and atmospheric DnB. Did a collab album with Pessimist that was cold as ****.

What's your song of the year?
"Lost" by Boy Harsher. Saw them play it live at my favorite run down club too.

Which genre(s) had the best releases this year?
Techno and Black Metal, definitely.

Which genres (from any year) did you listen to the most in 2019?
See above

Have you found any new favourite artists or albums that weren't released in 2019 this year?
Again, "Cocoa Sugar" by Young Fathers.

Did you pick up or leave behind any new tastes that might have surprised your past self?
Yeah, Trance.

Did you see any shows? Which were the best ones?
Stereolab gave me watery eyes. The crowd was mostly old fogies who waited for over a decade to see them, but I was 16 when I started listening to them, and that's when they went on hiatus (I'm 28 now, oh ****). Lataetia seemed really humbled by how long people waited for them to come back. Fuzzy feelings all around.

If you make music, how have you evolved as an artist this year?
I don't make it per se, I just play around with gear. I've went all hardware and mostly modular.

What was your biggest musical disappointment of 2019?
Ansome "Hounds of The Harbor"

Biggest musical surprise of the year?
Karenn's new album was so good that even my friends who don't care for Techno like it. Was expecting them to flub it again trying to replicate their live performances.

Have your listening habits changed at all this year? For better or for worse?
Not too much, pretty similar to 2018. The only difference is that I'm more versed in Techno and Black Metal.

What are some albums from this year that you think we'll look back on as classics?

Alberich "Quantized Angel"

A breath of fresh air for Death Industrial, and I keep coming back to it as well as do other people it seems.
