Default John Scofield - East Meets West

Well, it starts off with a 70s funk-rock groove before sauntering into a more sedate and meandering exploration of jazz. Sco is on top form here, and I hold his earlier recordings in much greater regard than his later ones, you know, the Uberjam band and all that stuff, it would be great if you've heard it to know what you think.

I think that Sco is almost unparalleled in the field of jazz guitar, with the exception of the late Allan Holdsworth ,who could shred like nobody's business, and was considered unmusical because his soloing skills were so ridiculous, back to Sco though, there is a sense of meandering, wandering, deft turns and tricks, exploring new territory before returning to the "hook" of the melody, I would really recommend this one as well as Live (1973) and Rough House. Get them on vinyl, if you can.
