Not necessarily as we know it is the only glimmer of hope in that circumstance.
I wouldn't want to live in a socialist system where Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schitt, Donald Trump, Dick Cheney, Barack Obama, etc are the arm of the state.
The only way it could even hope to work out for the better is if the US was able to throw out about 99.999% of its political class & these people are so deeply entrenched in the system that I don't see that happening.
What's far more likely is that we will end up with (more of) a fascist state (than we already have) wherein the big businesses such as starbucks, amazon, comcast, banks, etc are the government and our elected officials are only mere figureheads... which is for all intents and purposes, the direction we are moving in at this very moment and have been moving in since around 1975 with the NYC fiscal crisis when the experiment first started.
This new, consolidated form of control with throw a couple of bones to the society in terms of the black thing and the gay thing, maybe legalize pot finally & call itself "socialism" but in reality, it will be fascism.
