Default Wassup, dawg?

Wow. First two words I type, and they're both spelled incorrectly.

Sorry about that. It won't happen again.

Moving on, I'm from the East Coast of the U.S.

I'm 56 years old, which means that I was a teenager on the front lines during the war on disco.

I cut my teeth on Skynyrd, Nugent, Alice Cooper, Zep, Springsteen, Kiss, Queen, and all the other usual suspects from the Classic Rock Era.

That's not to say that's all I listen to, though. I have a great love and appreciation for music of all kinds. (Yes, even disco. Sometimes, hindsight truly is 20/20)

I have more Motown than any white, middle aged suburban dad has any business owning.

I also own country (traditional & newer), some bluegrass, a sizeable amount of 80s music, some classical.

Heck, I even have small collection of Mongolian throat singing, some Tibetan singing bowls, and a few other meditative things.

My all time favorites are Aerosmith (the 70s Aerosmith, not the MTV version), which have been with me most of my life, and Iron Maiden, which have been with me since I discovered them in 1983.

Rather than being 'stuck in the 70s', I've always kept an open mind when it comes to music, and am a firm believer that there's plenty of good music out there, you just have to be willing to look for it.

That's why, in addition to Aero & Maiden, my other favorites are Avril Lavigne (her attention to harmonies is second only to Queen), Shinedown (even though their last two albums have been leaning to the preachy side), and Haim. (I love their vibe)

I think, overall, the aspect I love most about music is harmonies. There's something so base, so organic, about voices in different notes, yet matching perfectly, that is like a magic trick you hear rather than see.

Plus, you can't fake harmonies. You either hit the notes or you don't.

Anyhow, that's about it. I'm looking forward to exploring this site.
