They're more pragmatic for sure
Nazis vote for Trump despite him having a Jewish son in law that is basically part of the administration, and despite him supporting Israel.
Christians vote for Trump despite him being an obvious heathen.
Libertarians vote for Trump despite him consolidating power in the executive branch and continuing the status quo neoliberal military objectives. Same basic interventionist foreign policy with a heavy reliance on drone strikes that we saw under Obama.
All these groups realize he has policies that benefit their basic political interests even if he has others they don't like or personal attributes they would normally despise.
And take the courts issue. Republicans play by one simple rule. Do what you can do to take and secure power. Democrats are scared to even pack the courts because of the "precedent" it will set and the breaking of norms.
Playing the game in such a way is playing at an inherent strategic disadvantage. You obey a specific rule or norm until the Republicans break it and then it doesn't apply anymore. That means they are the ones always dictating the rules and you're the one always playing catch up.
