We're doing a small Almodovar refresher cycle, focusing on what I consider his artistic pinnacle trilogy (Todo sobre mi madre, Hable con ella, La mala educacion). This one is less funny and less emotional than Todo sobre mi madre, but still has plenty of memorable scenes which pack a punch. Like for example this Caetano Veloso showstopper:
Or the Pina Bausch scenes, the corrida scenes, the silent movie etc etc. many of which are now iconic.
I loved Rosario Flores as the matador. I didn't know she was actually a singer and not an actor until quite recently. Almodovar has a fantastic talent in finding exceptionally interesting people to play in his movies.
The music is of course fantastic.
I'd give it a 4/5 (with Todo sobre mi madre being 5/5).

on both, which are, unfortunately, the only Almodovar films I've ever watched.
Tie Me Up! is on Criterion so I may get to that next.
