In certain parts of the rural south one becomes desensitized to this. Gunshots? Oh, must be 7 pm on a Tuesday evening. (Whereas if you are a child/young teen, your options are: drive four-wheelers recklessly over dirt piles or watch TV inside next to a fan. My best friend growing up broke her legs
twice due to four wheeler disasters. One time it flipped AND caught on fire.)
