Well since he is banned anyway, i took a peak at Dons post.

All i have to say is that while hardcore isn't really related to prog, it is possible for some hardcore bands to incorperate prog elements.

Dosent make them prog persay (hooray for prunk) though, but the thing about prog is that a lot of VERY different bands are put into that category.

Kraftwerk, Gentle Giant, Symphony X, Mars Volta, Magma, Sigur Ros, Mr Bungle and The Residents are all considered prog, and that is pretty much where the similarities end... And unlike metal and punk... Prog dosent dosent have over a hundred sub-genres, just a dozen or so, and even prog sub-genres such as RIO and Canterbury are awfully vague in discription.

So many prog bands are different, you cant just create a thousand different sub-genres for individual bands that are unique in their own way.
