Nice! These reviews are very insightful

Frank Zappa has been my most beloved artist for the last 6 years or so, though I've been an occasional listener since the 90s. Something which is nice is of course his EXTENSIVE discography which means I have plenty yet to get through, even though it feels I've come a long way. The last Zappa-album I listened to on repeat was The grand Wazoo.

I think a typical recommendation, which you also make, is Overnite Sensation and Apostrophe for first time listeners. They are great, but I personally rank One Size Fits All just a bit higher. Opinions are subjective of course, but for general purpose Zappa, it may be his greatest

By the way, also love how you get and partly describe Zappa's layered humour. Sometimes it's a penis joke or some clever metaphor, but it might also be funny instrumentation, exaggerated musical stereotypes, melodies, a run of notes, bad rhyming (poncho un-concho?) or just the way he pronounces a word (like "snaaaykes"). Sometimes it's meta humour about the dumbness of his own dumb jokes. There's often so many layers of humour tucked away in his music.

edit:

By the way, related to uncle meat, I love this from close to the end of his life the album is The Yellow Shark.
