The song I'm looking for has "tonight's the night" in the chorus, but it's not Neil Young or Rod Stewart, etc. It's a dance/pop song with some wolf howling in the background at some points.

I only have a very bad tape recording left of this song - very bad because I ruined the tape by listening to it so much way back when. So unfortunately I cannot post a video/audio reference. Additionally, I'm from Germany, so my English is not perfect and it is often very hard for me to make out lyrics, especially from a poor quality audio. That said, here are the lyrics as I heard them with [...] denoting parts I could not make heads or tails of:
