Default searching for 80's dance/pop song, female singer, "house they call desire" in the cho

The song I'm looking for is a bit slower paced dance/pop song that nevertheless has a nice dance beat to it. It's got something that almost sounds like cymbals in the instrument lineup. Overall pretty typical 80s pop song sound.

I only have a very bad tape recording left of this song - very bad because I ruined the tape by listening to it so much way back when. So unfortunately I cannot post a video/audio reference. Additionally, I'm from Germany, so my English is not perfect and it is often very hard for me to make out lyrics, especially from a poor quality audio. That said, here are the lyrics as I heard them:

you'll be my lover
i don't care if it's right or wrong now
you'll be my lover
eyes that hypnotize
well i don't care i don't care i don't care
you'll be my lover

take a step in the right direction
give me love give me your affection
you can take me but don't you leave me

when the heat is on
and you don't know where to find me
on the edge of time
i'll be waiting for you
it's your destiny
throw yourself into the fire
we'll be living in a house they call desire

come on now baby
just who do you think you're fooling
come on now baby
pull back your cover
don't hide cause you're only losing
you'll be my lover

don't pretend it's a sin, don't save it
never lie to me, don't you fake it
no secrets, you need me, baby

take a step in the right direction
give me love give me your affection
you can take me but don't you leave me

i can set you free
show you things that you ain't seen
shout my name out loud
you will follow, i will lead
it's your destiny
throw yourself into the fire
we'll be living in a house they call desire

don't look back

Thanks for any help!
