Hannah Arendt and Aimé Césaire have written about the "boomerang theory" when Foucault was still a graduate student with severe mental problems and zero publications (moreover, it was coined by some Russian Trotskyist during WWII). MF has like one paragraph about this in a lecture course first published in 1997, where he acknowledges the boomerang theory amid constructing a very different one. Maybe you mixed it up with Foucault's Pendulum?
