First: It was discovered and named less than a month ago, but you seem to have some kind of a *hunch* that it's been around for "several months."
Second: you seem to conveniently have in your mind that there's been "one death" in the UK when there's actually been at least 7 deaths and nearly 100 hospitalizations directly related to Omicron and that the estimate for this winter's death rate from COVID is to be at least 20% higher than last winter due to
this variant alone.
