True, just what they wrote for the Monkees alone (Pleasant Valley Sunday, Porpoise Song) would rate them among the great songwriting duos. The Byrds were also another band who seemed to like Goffin-King when they weren't doing their Dylan interpretations (Goin Back being another favorite of mine). ^ My sister bought the Dusty Springfield "Goin Back" single when I was 12 years old, so I learnt from her how good it was. I don't know which I loved more: the song, or the very first stirrings of nostalgia that it summoned up in my young heart.
Let's face it, at age 12, there isn't really a lot of goin' back that you can do, but Goffin, King and Dusty sure knew how to find it.
