Not really dude, I would say most people (in the more developed parts of the world) have mostly positive experiences. It isn't the 1950s, people are getting more and more used to queer people being a part of society.
If you have a loving relationship with your family, even if they are conservative, chances are that they will not go bonkers at the news that you're queer. Maybe they'll be disappointed because they expected something different, but getting cut off is unlikely to happen.
Anyways, hopefully some time in the not so distant future, people won't have to weigh the pros and cons of coming out. :/
