I find you incredulous. That's like you saying you studied American History at Harvard and never heard of Benjamin Franklin before until you saw a PBS special about him and thought he was "banging."
99% of the songs 10cc wrote were silly, tongue-in-cheek songs. But the one song that garnered them posterity in the US ironically was a serious anti-love song. It has one of the most incredible backing vocal tracks ever recorded.
