(Prompted partly by living in Mexico, where 83% of the people are Catholics and churches are full every Sunday. People are so convinced that their religion is the norm that I have had students ask me without preamble in front of the class, "Are you a Catholic?". That was the question that made me think that I should have a firm answer. Funniest moment was when I told one student I was an athiest and she said in a surprised voice, "But you're a nice person!!")
