You should take it up with the people who are doing that.
As for people being offended at RHCP fandom, besides it being an overt intellectual failing someone as wise as myself would never commit, in my case it's usually because that crowd insists on how great their musicianship is like it's some objective thing I'm supposed to respect. For me,
good musicianship is when you can make good music, not motor skill displays.
I do agree that it's better to focus on what you enjoy though, which is why I'm making jokes about Kiedis's moustache's opinion on the age of consent instead of giving in depth musical analysis.
