Isn’t Terekhova just amazing? The scene at the printing house, where she gets paranoid over a typo is one of my all time faves. When her colleague suddenly explodes at her after they all escape a brush with death (people were executed left and right for this kind of thing under Stalin) and accuses her of ruining her marriage by trying to be an “emancipated woman” is an amazing snapshot of the FEAR that was the defining emotion of those years. Her colleagues tell her that she looks like a scarecrow cause she ran in wet from the rain, when she’s looking probably as beautiful as anyone ever has, that’s a real “source for this claim?” moment...
I love it so much when non-Russians love that film.
