And also props for creating a unique sub-section dedicated to just your journals.

I'll sign up tomorrow or something.
Yeah it wasn't a vanity thing. I wanted to do it here too; just to keep my journals separate so they don't keep elbowing those of others off the first page.

Can you give me details? It's years since I signed up (didn't realise I had until yesterday when I tried to sign up and was told I was already a member)

No problemo

Edit: try that now.

If you need a fancy banner, lmk.
I knew I could count on you!

Some reasons:
  • This site could definitely just disappear one day
  • Without ownership / control, we can't really develop the site
  • It has ****ty spambot protection
  • We KNOW owners don't give enough **** to update forum software or anything
One day the forum will just be gone and you'll have no idea if the site is gonna come back up or not.

It's also a big part of why I don't wanna be a moderator. If I care about something, I wanna work on it and improve it. Musicbanter, as it is, does not reward that sort of ambition. Advameg is basically exploiting us, especially the moderators who work to keep this place spam free so that it can potentially still generate a few ad clicks,.

So I say move to a different forum and let the bots take over.
You want a job? Yeah I remember you talking about this in another incarnation (Tore?) but nobody was interested. I'm still not saying move, though it's not off the table, but more have somewhere to move to if we're forced to. I mean, we don't all want to come here one day and find the door's locked and there's a sign on it saying OUT OF BUSINESS. Banging on the door: "Where's my ****ing stuff? I left threads and journals in there!"

And some of us may have to change our usernames or maybe add numbers. I saw the overall count somewhere, but Proboard membership (they have thousands of boards overall) are in the millions.
Yeah of course there's no guarantee. There's no guarantee of anything. I suppose if we were serious about this we'd need to look at a paid forum, but I doubt anyone's interested in shelling out for that, so for now, this is our best bet.

I'm way ahead of you. There's already a triple-encrypted and locked copy circling a singularity out by the Horsehead Nebula.
