I don't actually know how things work abroad and I have no experience with this situation and contracts, but if I was to be a songwriter for other people, I imagine that I would first copyright / register my songs with Tono (company that manages copyrights / royalties in my country). Then, when another artist publishes their version, they have to make sure that my name is entered / credited as songwriter. I would then be able to collect royalties from plays. When we upload to streaming services through distrokid, we're also asked about songwriter, so maybe there's a similar system on streaming platform where you can designate who should get a piece of the cake when a song streams.

Exactly what a contract would entail, I'm not sure, but maybe you can detail how songwriter should be credited, how much of the royalties should go to songwriter, perhaps what platforms the song should be published to? I dunno.
