There was also the acid jazz label (movement?) in the UK in the 1990s. A bit similar to Brit Funk perhaps.
Bands included 'early' (ahem) Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, Incognito, The Whole Thing, Mother Earth, Galliano... That was a good period for students!
