Hello Anna, I don't play guitar much anymore but for a long time it was my main hobby. I remember the first music I ordered from this little corner music shop, it was Classical Gas by Mason Williams, and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John, and unbeknownst to me it arrived some days later as musical notation.

As I began work on deciphering this 'notation' I recall my biggest problem was that after I figured out a particular note was where exactly to play it. Thinking about it now, a piano only has a single row of keys(or notes) whereas a guitar has six rows (or strings) with each string having its fretted notes, which is to say that options for guitar seem a bit more overwhelming.

I suppose guitar tab was a solution to the guesswork of where exactly notes should be played, and of course nowadays with YouTube. I did see Slash play the Godfather theme a while back and that was easy enough with just the tab since I knew the melody pretty well.

I was also thinking that this forum does feel a bit more retro than some of the others, but that's not a bad thing. I like it so far.
