For what it's worth, Exo, I'm the king of opposite sex platonic friendships. I've had so many girl friends in that regard it's hard to count. It's just a matter of separating yourself from her married life, so to speak. I too, have a close friend that dates back to childhood and I get along with her husband very well.
Anyway, as far as this excuse of a human being goes, maybe you can go to her workplace (with her permission of course) and let it be known that her having male platonic friends is just this manager's hangup. I'm assuming this jerk is a fundamentalist Christian type so maybe he can be reminded that it's not a good idea to judge, lest ye be judged, you get the idea.
In any event, she shouldn't let it get to her. Worst comes to worst she can always report the lowlife.
