Requiem For A Dream is a very polarizing movie, to some it's a compelling drama, to others it's a hamfisted anti-drug PSA. I personally think it's a great movie but I can completely understand why some people hate it.
It's depressing as f*ck and it's as subtle as a brick to the face, it's a movie that dials everything up to 11 once it gets going and it can be complete sensory overload.
The cinematography and editing make for some striking visuals, the score is incredible and the performances are very good, hell even Jared Leto manages to be not terrible.
