I mean, not really. Not the mainline ones at least, beyond Princess Captured by Bowser -> Save Princess and Defeat Bowser. Paper Mario and Mario RPG have my heart though - great stories in those games - and the mainline ones are great games, regardless of the story.
I saw the movie and I thought it was quite enjoyable. I had a few gripes here and there - the voice casting was meh, the character dynamics and story beats were a little underwhelming, and the movie moves a bit too fast. But as a fan of the games, I loved all the fanservice and call backs to the old games. The animation was absolutely top notch and colorful. I'm hoping that when they make a sequel (they will), they can flesh things out a little bit more now that the characters and world are already established.
