We watch a lot of horror movies and I'm not a particularly picky customer. If it has atmosphere or visuals or suspense or a surprising plot, something, anything, I'll swallow it up. Moreover I like the subgenre of "folk horror," esp The Wicker Man. But something about
Midsommar didn't work for me. Though visually it's very strong. I suspect the issue is the director trying to be awfully clever while being not particularly bright. Many such cases! Still, a moderately enjoyable two hours and a bit.
