I love how people can look at a band thats effected people for well over 30 years and say they have no redeeming value. Your motives are clear, we still think you listen to ****ty music.
Kiss loved what they did, and they did it pretty damn well. They weren't one of these pretensious jackass groups who thought their music was on par with god, they just went out and had fun. If you listen to kiss and expect anything other then we should really all be analyzing you.
Kiss was what rock should be, carefree balls to the wall songs about doing what you actually do. Don't sing to me about the ****ing tidal wave in Cambodia, don't try to give a birlliant synopsis of Lockeian political structures while you ****ing sing, just play the ****ing song, and play it about **** you know, not what you read in a book to impress women.

My main problem with KISS is that as far i'm concerned, they really didn't give a damn about music, they did it for the money and fame, they don't even try to hide it, Gene especially, and while this could be said about many artists,
good artists still have to put some kind of effort into their music, KISS just do a bunch of songs Gene wrote in 5 minutes and release it as a single, there are thousands upon thousands of more musically talented musicians from every genre, sub-genre, sub-sub-genre and sub-sub-sub-genre i can think of.... They were mediocre musicians plain and simple, and while bands like Nirvana could make up for it with their songwriting, the same cannot be said of KISS, they wrote a few dumb anthems that while fun (in a drunken kind of way) i could have written them myself, the lyrics are so horrible that i sometimes i think they actually make them up as they go along... But since i don't have their makeup, no one could give a damn if i make better music or not... You think people go to see them live because of their music?... They aren't even that good live compared to their studio work, which is basically the same thing but with much better sound quality, in fact i would give the producers all the credit, not the actual band, just shows what studio magic can do for any random group of amateurs who want to make a quick buck, they don't improvise live, they just play their songs and follow the rules... People go to see them for their overproduced extravaganzas, laser lights, fireworks, whatever, their idea of being "experiemental" is doing disco tunes and writing songs with Michael Bolton... It's the fine line between being a musician and being a performer.... They were good performers but really crappy musicians who didn't do anything remotely original or creative, and they have sold out and ripped off their fans more times than any other band in history... And this is the band you choose to praise?
And this is all coming from someone who dosent mind KISS at all, seriously, but looking at it from a objective point of view, they just weren't that talented... And the only real quality behind their music is that it's
kinda catchy... But if your dream of every rock band being like KISS came true, i would f*cking kill myself... You need to stop being so afraid of musicians who actually try to do something different, if people just kept playing the same old fashion rock n roll tunes over and over for a million years, it would get boring... That's one of my main problems with you, you choose to write off millions of bands that you haven't even heard as "sh*t" simply because you're not used to their style.
Overall i love how when someone makes a slight criticism of one of your precious rock n roll bands you have to have change the topic and have a pointless rant and start calling a whole genre of music crap (prog in this case) which is mighty hypocritical for you because you always give people sh*t for being off topic, DoC didn't do anything other than point out the pointlessness of this thread, and yet you have to freak out at him and insult him, look at yourself... Grow up.
