Townshend wasn't very technically skilled (though he was much more fun live than Jimmy Page was), thats true, but his playing was pure energy, listen to
Live At Leeds, if you think it's horrible, you have serious problems.... Let's not forget that he is also one of the most respected rhythm guitarists in the whole f*cking business.
And for the record he is better than Jack White.
