I'm a huge fan of Rush, and obviously love Neil Peart for his percussion skills - however, he is also an amazing writer - (his book on his experiences after his wife and daughter died is amazing) - but some of his lyrics are profound and metaphorical - my personal favorite is 'The Trees'
'There is unrest in the forest,
there is trouble in the trees,
for the Maples want more sunlight,
and the Oaks ignore their pleas'
While perhaps not the best example of his lyrics, the whole song is very cleverly crafted, telling the story of oppression, almost commenting on big business and it's power to overshadow little business...
Just my thoughts!
