i personally think music is a catharsis . its a way in which we can safely release emotion. Of course the type of music and its lyrical content can alter a mood, but affect mental health in a more extensive manner? No, thats society.

The self-fulfilling prophecy can only be held responsible for some attributes of individuals behaviour, and of course society plays apart. But wouldn't music be part within society? People are making the music, so it's not all due to the labelling theory.
However, I asked for opinions and I have them. I am retaking me exam this afternoon and had to find the link again. Didn't expect there to be more entries, but thats all cool.
