Feeling half-bad at the moment, after halfway through a phone conversation with my friend Paul he told me that one of our other friends (who's 17, us two are mid-twenties) parents have split up. My response to this was 'ah, cool, cool'. In hindsight, this wasn't a tactful response even though Paul didn't seem bothered. Its just that I was in a very cheery mood from the sun and the parents breaking up hardly came as a surprise to me (I seem to be the only one who can see these things coming a mile off). But I still feel a bit bad about it, all the same.
