The big machines they use to harvest that food (combines) kill thousands of snakes, mice, gophers, and other small animals every year. I'd literally never thought of that aspect of the debate, ever. Admittedly, there are non-meat/fish/dairy foods that don't require the use of combine harvesters... but how many people only eat fruit?
