If you are the greatest live band in the world it makes no difference to me when I put the CD in the stereo.

You may as well say making good music videos make a band better.
Right but my point is that some bands I probably won't ever listen to on my stereo but I'll jump if I get the opportunity to see them live. Like Be Your Own Pet or Rammstein. Be Your Own Pet because they're a bunch of 18 year olds who know how to work up a crowd and have a good time on stage, and Rammstein because their live show involves self-immolation and that's just always cool to watch. Obviously, I don't rate either of them very highly as musicians but I still like them as bands.
