im not going to comment on "emo" because to me bands such as Fallout boy, MCR, Panic! etc etc etc are simply being marketed as that three letter word to acheive bigger sales and take advantage of the adolescents who will follow their peers in liking a style of music seen as cool at the present time. as far as i know (granted, my knowledge on hardcore and "emo" isnt vast) its false labelling. In London its all about indie. again, most bands referred to as indie are in no way, shape or form "indie", their simply marketed as that because apparently its become the "in" thing to like in london. If anything these so called bands are guitar-led pop or if their particularly rough in their style, garage pop. I guess the trend is marketing bands under a broad classification to attain as big a target audience as possible. Pretty enduring trend.
