I put nation of millions instead. And VUAN seems to be pretty critically acclaimed.

Since noone is defending the new millennium music, may I put up a few suggestions (that will undoubtedly get me slaughtered):

Arcade Fire - Funeral (2004) (Indie-rock): Pretty much unanimously declared one of the best albums of the new millennium.
Franz Ferdinand - S/T (2004): For reviving dance rock and spawning innumerable knock offs.
The White Stripes - Elephant (2003) (Rock): The best rock album of the new millennium period.
