Lights constantly flicker but never come
On the porch we exchanged vows but
Never did the sky turn darker as it did
Before we said "I love you", could
Anything be better at all?

I fail to see the importance of
Lousy words falsely stroking my
Feelings of doubt and guilt like
Battery acid they are in the
Power source you present and certainly
Prone to dissatisfaction, similar to
Lightning bugs caught in jars
Trying to fly but only illuminating the
Same spots have presented themselves
Too many times to care about
Change in my apathetic visage.

Emotions scrape my chest and
Blood escapes from my
Heart that is sore from evading such
Swipes and sickles effortlessly trying
To wound my nerves and
Damage that has been done prior to
Anything I've ever experienced is
Nothing compared to you.
